I recently finished knitting the Anniversary Sweater by Woolfolk and I can’t get over the beauty of the Tov yarn red colorway (T20)! It is such a flattering shade of red — cool, saturated, and striking. Released as a limited colorway to celebrate Woolfolk’s 10th anniversary, I hope it remains as part of their permanent collection.
Sweater Shaping Like Spanx
At first glance, the Anniversary Sweater design seemed a bit boring. Stockinette stitch with a bit of twisted rib stitch; extended shoulders; oversized fit; top-down and in-the-round knitting — nothing all that exciting. To be honest, I was more enamored of the red color than the pattern design!
So I was surprised to see that the details along the the sleeve and body hems created subtle shaping without the usual ribbed look. The twisted rib sections were along the back of the sleeve hems and the side seams of the body hem — not readily visible but doing their job. Sneaky shaping — like the Spanx of knit design!
Necklines Two Ways
The Anniversary Sweater pattern includes instructions for two necklines: folded crewneck and standing turtleneck. I made the turtleneck version and I love the look. I had to shorten it to accommodate my short neck but I love the scrunchy look!
The folded crewneck is also a lovely option. The sweater’s neckline shape is more open than a standard crewneck so the result would be a wide neckline rather than close to the neck.

Light Yet Warm Woolfolk Tov Yarn
Woolfolk Tov is an aran-weight 100% merino wool yarn. It is a smooth yarn that is easy to knit and gives beautiful stitch definition. After blocking, the resulting fabric has an elegant drape. When worn as a sweater, it is light yet warm — the perfect transitional piece.
Sweater Construction Details
For the Anniversary Sweater, I used about 6 skeins of Tov for size 1. However, I shortened the sleeves (each by about 2 inches) and the turtleneck (about 1 inch) so I used a bit less yarn than what the pattern called for. Next time, I may knit a larger size for an even more relaxed look.
To get gauge, I used size 7 needles for the body (24-inch and 16-inch) and size 6 needles (16-inch) for the neckline.
The sweater is worked from the top down and in the round. The sleeves and neckline are worked in the round. The hems are finished using tubular bind off, which is a lovely finish that is stretchy yet stable.
