What New Things I’m Excited About in April

April — what a glorious spring day here in the San Francisco Bay Area! Blue skies and temps nearing 70 — can’t get more perfect than this. Time to get out and about! Here’s what I’m excited about this month!

Renegade Craft San Francisco Spring 2024

With more than 250 creatives represented, Renegade Craft San Francisco Spring 2024 should be an amazing event! Located at Fort Mason, the event will run on Saturday, April 6 and Sunday, April 7 from 11 am to 5 pm.

Japanese Print Design Exhibits at the Legion of Honor Opens April 6

Zuan-cho: Kimono Design in Modern Japan opens at the Legion of Honor in San Francisco on April 6 and runs through August 25. The exhibit presents zuan-cho — print albums for kimono designs that were printed in the Meiji era (1868 to 1912). Zuan-cho were style guides and design sources that reflected the design aesthetic of the time. This exhibit is being shown in conjunction with Japanese Prints in Transition: From the Floating World to the Modern World. I think both will be fascinating to see!

San Francisco International Chocolate Salon

Seriously? A whole day of tasting artisan chocolates in beautiful Golden Gate Park? I think the San Francisco International Chocolate Salon will be the place to be on April 7 from 11 am to 5 pm! In addition to tastings, there will be demonstrations (including one for tea!) and discussions. Fun!

Northern California Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco

Spanning two weekends — April 13 to 14 and 20 to 21 — the 57th Annual Northern Californa Cherry Blossom Festival should be a great event. There will be cultural demonstrations, food booths (all run by local non-profits), and of course the grand parade on the last sunday.
