This has to be my absolute fave look from Tory Burch‘s NYFW Spring/Summer 2027 collection!
I love the retro vibe with a modern twist. The look has fun color combinations, midi skirts in textured fabrics, kitten heels, a boa (!), stacked short necklaces, and reimagined 1950s-style cardis with gorgeous embroidery. Image from here.

Richly Embellished Sweaters
The NYFW 2027 Spring/Summer sweaters appear to be inspired by designs from the 1950s, when fine-gauge knits in soft yarns like cashmere and angora were embellished with intricate beaded or embroidered designs. The base sweaters were generally cropped or hit just at the waist and were fitted to the body.

For NYFW 2027, Tory Burch has modernized these prim 1950s sweaters with a shaped and elongated silhouette, the addition of dimensional hand embroidery in bold color combinations, a wider neckline, and ruffled button bands that lend a carefree air.
The embellishment looks like crewel embroidery, an embroidery technique that uses wool threads rather than silk or cotton. Because wool threads are thick, the resulting designs have dimensionality and a less formal vibe.
The neckline is wider than a traditional crewneck style, which helps to highlight neckwear such as the stacked necklaces or even little tied scarves.
It is a piece that can look amazing with so many different garments. I would wear it with a midi, a mini, jeans, or even a formal dress. The design is absolutely genius!
Midi Pencil Skirts for NYFW 2027 Spring/Summer
Pencil skirts are one of my fave skirt silhouettes because, if they fit properly, are one of the most flattering styles to wear. But they also have a bit of a prim vibe.
Tory Burch’s skirts this season are so cool because they have a long midi length rather than the typical knee length and they are made from jacquard fabrics that have dimensionality. And most importantly, they seem to have pockets! I honestly don’t know how she was able to add pockets to such a fitted skirt.
Irreverent Accessories
The feathered boa, funky kitten heel shoes, and stacked short necklaces add to the playfulness of the NYFW 2027 look and encourage us to have a more lighthearted and playful attitude as we look toward the months ahead.
As a maker, of course my mind is already thinking about how I could reimagine this look and unlock some of the design details. Stay tuned!
