Happy new year and welcome to my blog! A new year calls for new beginnings — a fresh start!
As I greet year #54, my goal is to live with intention, including as a designer and writer. Life — especially viewed through the lens of midlife — is just too short to waste.
As I look to 2024, my mind is filled with new design ideas. I’m experimenting with repurposing kimono fabrics into modern shapes; researching iconic outerwear like motorcycle jackets (I need this in my closet!); studying traditional craft techniques such as sashiko; and being inspired by the beautiful world around me. I’ve been thinking more about sustainability and being aware of the fabrics and fibers I use in my work, especially where they come from and how they are manufactured.
I have stories that I’m excited to write, including about fashion, traditional craft, textiles, travel, and handmade style. I have a stack of books to read (my current read is The Fabric of Civilization by Virginia Postrel); inspiring podcasts to listen to (love The Mel Robbins podcast); and interesting people I hope to meet.
There’s so much to learn, experiment, and create in 2024 — I look forward to sharing my journey with you!
